From the apocalyptic to the serene, these are landscapes in flux. We enter in the midst of the action to witness events that are at once concrete and present, yet ethereal and fleeting. Illuminated from within, these visionary worlds evoke photographic descriptions of reality. Created from fragments and scraps, I build these images with techniques that merge photography, painting, and collage. Digital photographs are exploited, chopped apart, dodged, and burned; they are then subjected to the manipulation of squeegees, brushes and erasers. After intense change, a snowbank emerges as a mountain range and tiny cardboard assemblages morph into life-sized architecture. All this is done with the intent to combine disparate elements in a more beautiful and elegant whole - one that surpasses the sum of its parts.
