My
art is a response to close observation of the natural environments
in which I have spent time hiking and fishing during my entire
life. I often begin hiking with the premise of fishing, but then
the day becomes an ongoing visual documentary
of the cycles of life on and around streams and rivers. I find
myself making works that are mostly from memory, but in finality,
their exact replication
becomes less important. In leaving the water out of my pieces the
evidence of its activity becomes an isolated beauty, a sort of
quiet result. I believe that when people are more aware of their
own ecosystems they show more concern for the environment in general. |
