The
allure, seduction, and natural beauty of sexuality and the
human body are at the core of my recent sculpture. The vessel-form,
repeated or standing alone, represents the body, the vagina,
shelter, safety, strength, and vulnerability. The surface––slick,
delicate, and shimmering––entices the viewer to look
inside. The obsessive repetition of forms is parallel to my constant
circle of ideas. In a culture that tends to scratch the surface
when it comes to issues of gender and sex, making my vessels
gives shape and purpose to my own search to understand the depths of female
sexuality.
