University Art Museum is pleased to host the 1997 University at Albany Art
Department Faculty Exhibition. The exhibition affords a unique opportunity
to experience mainstream innovations and challenging artistic expressions in the
disciplines of painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. This faculty
has the reputation for not only producing works of artistic quality which are
formally strong and of high intellectual value but for also enabling their students
to achieve this status as well. As an academic museum located within the parent
institution of the University at Albany, the museum supports the universitys dedication
to rigorous intellectual inquiry. The presentation of the work of the members
of the faculty is a vital dimension of the museums mission of public service and
education which most certainly enriches the cultural and intellectual terrain
of our community. The Art Department chair, Dr. Roberta Bernstein joins me in
congratulating all the participating artists on this fine accomplishment.
